5 Designer Tips: How to Style Your Coffee Table

I am going to share 10 designer tips to style your coffee table like a professional designer without spending in it so much.
I know styling your coffee table without making it look like cluttered is difficult and sometimes we all make mistakes no matter how careful we are. My 10 tips will make sure you don’t make same old mistakes while styling your coffee table and make it look like more of a professional set up.

1. Don’t Mess With The Balance
Always maintain the balance of the objects on your coffee table, don’t overdo it and clutter the surface with so many objects. While using only large items can make it look heavy, you can always mix some large and some small items together to keep the balance.

This beautiful coffee table is a great example of perfectly balanced setup, candles are giving height and books are giving a neat surface to place the small objects.

2. Use Two Coffee Tables With Different Heights
Instead of using just one big coffee table you can always opt-out for two tables with different heights and size, these types of tables are called nested tables. This style looks really chic even if you leave them bare but it doesn’t mean you cannot style them.

Styling two different coffee tables can be overwhelming but not when you’re placing them together. Use smaller objects for the small table and add some tall items on the big one. You don’t need to overcrowd this pair instead minimalism can be your best friend when using nested tables.


3. Seasonal Swap-Outs Are Your Best Friends
Because coffee table is a focal point of your living room, it can be a great place to change seasonal décor items now and then. Fresh tulips can be a great choice for spring and a pumpkin for fall.


4. Make A Grid
If you want to style a large coffee table don’t over-do it and load it with decor items. It’s completely the wrong way to start styling a large coffee table. Instead, start by making a grid system and divide sections by outlining with a tape, start placing the items within the squares. It will help you to visualize your coffee table area and make it less intimidating.

5. Be Selective and Focus on Functionality
While decorating a coffee table we cannot overshadow its functionality, coffee table should have space to place your snacks, coffee, or a glass of water for your guests. Be selective of what you wanna place on your coffee table, sometimes tack of few books and one or 2 décor items are more then enough.
